What is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry which aims to produce an ideal alignment of the teeth, lips and jaws within the face to optimise function and the facial/ smile aesthetics.
An orthodontist is a specialist who has trained and completed a dental degree and following some years working as a general dentist, then returns to university for a further degree in orthodontics.
Because an orthodontist limits their practice to braces and exclusively practises within this speciality, they are best equipped to deal with the many different problems that can occur as our teeth and jaws develop.
